What is the status of my Medical Marijuana Use Registry Card application?
The Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry is linked to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) to streamline the application and approval process. Using FLHSMV data helps auto-approve photos and proof of residency, which may reduce processing time.
Online applications: Average approval time is 10 business days.
Mailed applications: Allow an additional 3–5 days for postal delivery.

How do I renew my ID card?
To keep your card active, submit a renewal application (with fee and documents) 45 days before expiration. Renewals can be submitted online or by mail.

What happens if I need a new ID card?
For changes, replacements, or lost/stolen cards:
Submit a Change, Replacement or Surrender Request Form
Include a copy of your Florida driver’s license or ID
Pay the $15 replacement fee

Where can I get medical marijuana?
Visit a qualified physician for a medical marijuana recommendation.
Your physician enters your order into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.
Apply for your ID card.
Once approved, you can contact a licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Center (MMTC) to fill your order.
Who can sell medical marijuana?
Only licensed MMTCs can sell medical marijuana or related delivery devices. MMTCs may only dispense products to:
Qualified patients
Qualified caregivers
Can I grow my own marijuana?
❌ No. Florida law prohibits personal cultivation. Only licensed MMTCs may grow, process, and dispense cannabis.
Violations may be referred to law enforcement, and remember: marijuana remains illegal under federal law.
Does Florida allow reciprocity with other states?
❌ No. Florida does not recognize out-of-state medical marijuana cards.
Florida MMTCs may only dispense to Florida-qualified patients listed in the registry.

How do I apply to open a Medical Marijuana Treatment Center (MMTC)?
The Department of Health is not currently accepting MMTC applications. Rulemaking for Amendment 2 is ongoing. Updates can be found on the Florida DOH website.
What is a marijuana delivery device?
A marijuana delivery device is any object used to prepare, ingest, inhale, or otherwise introduce marijuana into the body. These devices may be dispensed by an MMTC—except for those used for smoking, which do not require MMTC dispensing to qualify.
How do I use my Medical Marijuana Use Registry ID card?
You must present your Medical Marijuana Use Registry ID card at licensed MMTCs to:
Obtain medical marijuana
Purchase a marijuana delivery device
The card also serves to verify your active status in the state’s registry.
Can I be both a patient and a caregiver?
✅ Yes. But you must apply separately for both:
A Patient ID card
A Caregiver ID card
